A while back, I tried making a logic analyzer with my Pi Pico.  Couldn't get it to work with the software at all.  looked at several YouTube videos, but for some reason, nothing worked for me.  I could dump the raw data and import it into the software, so i knew the Pico was capturing correctly, but I couldn't get the software to capture the data directly. Eventually bought one of those cheap, generic Chinese analyzers off Ali Express and it works perfectly.  Of course, the cheap ones only work with 8 channels and runs at 25 MHz, but just fine for most retro stuff.

why would you need so many 'channels' ?

@TomToad >>
i used a 'DSO203' with a modded firmware as a logic analyzer and it worked well !
i was surprised to be able to capture the signal (lows and highs between 0V and 5V ) used to open / close an electric gate (for a private parking).
and then i was able to generate this same signal using and arduino (atmega) to open / close the gate at wish.

very cool experiment ! i was a 'hacker' during a short time. ^-^
