Title: WW2 Pacific game recommendations?
Post by: Krischan on July 10, 2017, 23:18:56
I've just played Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault again and now started a new Silent Service II career, hope to survive the game until I can finally sink the Yamato like I nearly did 25 years ago (I ran out of torpedos, damn). The game still makes fun and you're quite familar with it after an hour but its VGA only and very hard to control from a modern view.

So do you know any other good WW2: Pacific theater games you'd recommend for Windows, especially a modernized sub sim like Silent Service II - which is one of my all-time favourites with the map of the Pacific where you can drive around while the historic events take place during your career? That was and is still very immersive. I know there are many sims out there but I don't know which comes close to the "SS2 feeling". Other great games from this era were Task Force 1942, which was extremely hard to control but made a lot of fun and another favourite: Destroyer from Epyx on C64. All these games are a fountain of youth, I'm 20 again now 8)

Don't know if this fits in your specifics but my fave WWII game was Hidden & Dangerous. I spent many hours on that game and the blend of strategy and action was / is really good.

Thanks but that's not what I'm looking for. My favourite WW2 shooter is still Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory with my own Bot setup (up to 64 Omnibots and me). But thanks for reminding me that I must finish my ETloader tool as soon as my new BSP loader for LOF is done.

But Wolfenstein is more the European theatre, I'm looking for the Pacific theatre. You know, Palm Trees, Coconuts, Ships, Japanese, Bunkers - more exotic.
