OMG  :o

For me Blitz3D and BlitzMax were the modern versions of languages like STOS and AMOS on the 16-bit systems.

So sad to hear of another person dying, not a relative or friend this time but nevertheless somebody many of us were very familiar with. RIP Mark.  :(

I literally just read about this and came here to let people know. Absolutely gutted.

Here's a link to the report on Acid Softwares Facebook page: Mark Sibly RIP

I left a short message there and would encourage others to maybe do the same. I used Blitz in the early Amiga days all the way through until I could get it on PC instead. I've not used it in around 8 years now but it changed the way I approached coding and had a massive impact on me.

I'll never forget his games either - particularly Gloom.

RIP

What were the progress, is it going to waste. I don't think anybody will be taking up the mantle.
I'm just a mentally ill person stuck in person. I've had quite an online history and of media such as role plays with people that became movies (for real) among other things and content. I wanted to be an online famous person at one time. Unfortunately it's ill and I'm anonymous.

It was coming along great, and he pretty much ironed out a lot of bugs with it, it's a shame, but it is what it is, and, for myself, not a waste of time at all, I had a lot of fun testing it, and I think others did as well. It was like rolling back the years mucking about with it, back in Blitz3D land.

The future, who knows, but as a resource, what he has done will be invaluable to people who are looking into Dawn or looking into how to create a professional grade graphics engine, he's covered a lot of areas in regards to that!

But, you never know, someone may see the history behind it and take it up, maybe not... As with everything, time will tell!

I have read that Google Dawn is still work in progress, and this would also mean that its API might change in the future, so the software currently developed with it would need to be reworked.

Sad news. I've been largely off the net for months, attending to this and that, and just swung by the skirmish-dev forums to see how LibSGD was coming along, only to discover we've lost one of the greats. RIP Mark.
