Not long after bb.com went live I joined. I've always been known as Amon. I remember a lot of folk who were there donkeys years ago.
I'm sure people remember me for my logical, peacekeeping, intellectual, fun, honourable nature which awesomed the forum in ways never before seen. Unlike some I was never banned, nor was I ever 16 different people on the forum in order to circumvent bans.

Long time ago though. Very long time ago.

I was around in the early 2000's when I accidentally discovered Blitz had moved to PC having pretty much left the Amiga behind (sadly) in 1998. I was mostly a lurker, however, so doubtful anyone would remember me, even though I would have still have used Xerra as my name.

Xerra was Arexx backwards, which was a powerful Amiga scripting language of the time that could communicate between applications. I guess it was kind of what LUA became.

Anyway, stupid me started using Xerra as a forum name, mainly due to a lack of imagination, and it was probably at least a year before I realised I'd spelt it wrong. It had stuck by then so I just ran with it.

I didn't find Blitz until around 2006, but here is an old mugshot post you might find of interest:

Good times, Blitz was at it's height and had a great community.  I've always used my own name rather than a Matrix 'Neo' or some other identity.  It was a time where the language designer actually turned up and responded, rather than later on disappearing and eventually pulling the plug without warning.  It was the 'official site' and I thought it a bit stuffy compared to the more laid back '2nd site', you know the one lol.    But you could get the latest update news from the main site.

I never met anybody from either of the sites, but it was great that meets were organized.  A real sense of community, banter and a common coding interest.   

Been more-or-less lurking for more than 20 years.  No reason to stop now. 

I arrived in around 2005 and have always gone by Grindalf but I don't imagine anyone will remember me because I didn't comment much

i have learned a lot from the blitbasic forums and its members. and i am grateful for that.

it is sad that all went to nothingness.

2002 for me after finding B3d by accident. Used it on the amiga for years. I remember most of the old names above but also Sswift, Joker, Indiepath, skid, jfk and many others. Was a great place to hang.

Was first to bb back in 2000 ish on the Amiga and stumbled on B3D by accident on Amiga Format, I was blown away with a head to rival Max Headroom (although he was just a human in get up). Yep, bb was a community, which lives on here to an extent. 21 years.... Jeez, age is just a number!

I looked at my old programs and the oldest dates are 2004....first I bought Blitz Basic and shortly after Blitz3D....I still have the infamous Amiga Blitz2 "free" magazine disk...my Amiga was my goto in the 90's and I used Amos Basic and Amos Professional and  Amos 3D. There used to be a few program images of mine in the showcase....I didn't post much I think as "gpete"..  went down the PC rabbit hole in the late 90's and onto PC gaming so programed little in Blitz until 2014 when I started again..

Yes, me too.  I thought the syntax of Blitz3D was clunky, but it did have the wow factor for a mere BASIC.

C++ is completely out of control, what are we on now, version 20?  It's become a monster that constantly changes.

C with classes, fine. But it's become a massive bloated mess imo.
