6 month long gaming competition?

I know, they're generally 16 weeks-ish. Just floating the idea. We could have a 4 week / 1 month chat around the compo goal - maybe 'anything you want from all previous competitions' - but with no spoilers about what peeps have elected for until the last 6 weeks.

I confess, my coding mojo 'might' be waining - the competitions have kept me at it over the last..... couple/few years.

Any thoughts?

I'm not sure on a six month one. As it is I started working on something at the start of the year and I've hardly touched it in the last 3 weeks, as I set myself a deadline of end of year to finish it as it's a bigger game than I would normally create.

For me I tend to slack off unless I've got a tight target to aim for, so even if I got a game put together, I'm not sure it would be anything much bigger than something that had taken me six weeks.

However, that's just me. Maybe other people think differently on this.

I quite like the idea. It gives you time to work on other projects/life commitments too.   :)

Let's call it reimagine.

:D

Reimagine Your Favorite 16-bit Game
Reimagine Your Favorite 90s Game
...

Or...after Best Of The 80s it could be Best Of The 90s...?

What if we make it an almost year long comp where not only we have more time for creating the games, but also Qube could collect occasional "funding" from forum members through out the months and prizes could be more. And if the deadline is around Christmas/December that would also add to the vibe.

I used to compete over on Shmup-Dev forum quite often (the new thing is bit rotten and the original is history).
I also used to compete on the old Dark Bits Factory forum. (Though I never fully got into the Demoscene).
Fun times. I think the competitions were like 1 or 2 months but I don't fully recall.
One DEFUN to rule them all, One DEFUN to find them, One DEFUN to RETURN them all, and in the darkness MULTIPLE-VALUE-BIND them.
