I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question but I'm hoping I'm wrong.  I got a midi track of ZZtops sharp dressed man song, its not exact but its real close to the music in that song..    Whats the possibility of being able to use this in a game without getting in trouble ?  :)

If you like it, I could write you something like this:

Simple solution. If in doubt, don't use it. If I remember Kate Perry was taken to court over one song that had just six notes.
Look up Kate Perry "Dark Horse". Oh and here's the comedy bit. A YouTube creator that was defending Kate Perry ended up getting a "Cease and Desist and take down" order for the same six notes by none other than the record label that distributes Kate Perry's songs.

That sounds really good MidiMaster.

Dawlane, you told me just what I wanted to hear.. I ripped it out of my game after reading that. :)

It's a simple scene, in my game there are  87 rideable vehicles, I have one red-hot-rod that looks like the ZZtop car on the videos..  I wanted to play a simular but not exact 5 sec tune when the player entered that particular car...   but I can live without it after reading your post. :)

Thanks guys.

What you could do is contact by email, the music company that ZZTop works for, ask them how much for royalties to use the song with a credit in your game, they should agree as it's advertising for them too.

Alienhead could try to contact them, but would get better results employing a legal representative to contact them. An individual contacting a company about copyrights ectara, would vary rarely ever get a response.
