Quote from: William on November 09, 2024, 22:59:50Hi xaron. Playing a little. I'm not. I just didn't want somebody to steal the medievaldreams domain. I genuinely wanted to code it. Not anymore.
Huh what? I'm not sure I can follow.
I play video games briefly maybe a couple hours a week. But I'm not developing one I began a project and recently renewed the domain I created for it however I can't anymore. I just cant. I'm screwed in life. I started it in 2022 because that stuff seemed really cool to me, the old realmcrafter. I still have urges to program sometimes but those fade. I'm such a failure in life. You're one person I remember from moparscape xaron.
Do you play video games only a couple of hours a week. Because someone told you it's bad and unhealthy. Everything is relative If your mind is focused and distracted from reality causing you less anxiety, and Depressive thoughts. Then it works for you.

Sitting down and coding for a day is not bad if it works for you. That's your theropy. Everyone is different. You have to find what works for you!

Focusing on something your not acheiving is only going to cause you Sadness and stress. Anxiety being the Bugger.

Walking, Swimming, Reading, eating healthy getting up in the morning, brushing your teeth are all a form of discepline and focus.

Some people spend all weekend traveling across the country to Kick a bag of Wind between two post's? shouting at each other and Fighting. To me that's not Healthy, Your missing your Family, your loved one's and selfishly spent lot's of money your Family could of benefited from together! So i hope you can apprecieate everything is relative to you and how you function and stay happy.

The important thing is do what works for you!

Maybe, Program something easier that you can handle, Tackle, Focus on better. Just saying.

I'd like to make the next Blockbuster "HALO" or  "Grand Theft Auto" or "Mass EFFECT" Game. But my programming skills and knowledge are just Too SHIT! for that. So im at peace doing what i do. :D

The words from @Dabz, @RemiD and the other guy's are all words to help you and try and be Positive. Nothing Negative.

So, As Dabz said "Make a start in pulling yourself back up, no one else can do that for you... only yourself!. It's harsh when you here that! BUT. Bust that chain that's keeping you down!!!

Look after yourself and Good Luck, Things will get better. Baggey
Running a PC that just Aint fast enough!? i7 4Ghz Quad core 32GB ram  2x1TB SSD and NVIDIA Quadro K1200 on 2 x HP Z24's . DID Technology stop! Or have we been assimulated!

Windows10, Parrot OS, Raspberry Pi Black Edition! , ZX Spectrum 48k, C64, Enterprise 128K, The SID chip. Im Misunderstood!

I am working on a re release of my last game as I found out new things I could do with AGK. This will be my best game so far and I'm looking forward to releasing this but probably a couple of months away at least until it's ready. The game is Package Secured 2 and when it's ready will be released as PS2.5 next year early I hope. So I did release it as a finished game but then had other ideas which I think would be good. My brain is pumping out some good ideas at the moment and I want to work on this further so that is what I'm gonna do. I looked at the shader pack which I have  and no mention of skyboxes which is a shame, if anybody knows differently please let me know.

And here I thought I was following you on Itch.io ... Welp I am now  ;)
I'm not exactly familiar with AGK but it's methods can't be to different from blitz3d ... "Mostly"
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

I never used 3D in Blitz3D only 2D and hoped on the AGK wagon. I'm thinking I could release my game anytime now for what it is with the recent makeover.  I'm gonna make a new tree as the one I made originally is looking a bit dated.

Man. Well anyway congrats pfaber. I know you are a real user now. Um. Idk what I would like to make just for a project.
I'm just a mentally ill person stuck in person. I've had quite an online history and of media such as role plays with people that became movies (for real) among other things and content. I wanted to be an online famous person at one time. Unfortunately it's ill and I'm anonymous.

Hey William I am no great programmer but I scrape by. This is my escape to just do what I want and
learn as much as possible about programming. I started about 7 years ago and there is plenty I do not know but I'm well pleased with my latest game. My earlier games are pretty terrible and maybe I should not have them on my itch.io account but they kind of tell a story. Very pleased with my latest it's what I would call a mini game.

For me the hardest bit is having a good idea and getting  those first lines of code down and once that is done I'm in business.
I think the hard part is having a decent idea or any idea for that matter. I was gonna start learning a new language but gonna put that on hold for a while. I think AGK is probably gonna be my thing for a long time.

I almost went back to PureBASIC but what I wanted to use with it was Raylib and unfortunately it does not do shadows. I'll see what else is out there. LibSGD does support shadows

..LibSGD has modern PBR pipeline..very easy to use, which makes it really neat addition to PB.

This is one of my current projects, called Zig Zag, which I've been dedicating a lot of my time to lately.

The gameplay is simple: tap the screen, click the mouse, or press the spacebar at the right moments to steer. Your mission is to rescue the astronauts and find the exit once you've saved them all.

It's a challenging game, and you might even get some Flappy Bird vibes from it! I'm considering releasing it both as a fully-fledged game and as a template.

Amanda Dearheart

Well, let's see!

Monday through Wednesdays I'm juggling three projects.  A Sci-Fi RPG based on a SPI game in Godot that may take 5 to 7 years to complete, a arcade game that should have taken only 1 week, but has taken over four months to develop.  (I say it is mostly 85% done). That is also being developed using Godot.  Then there is my pet project, an FP?  that is being developed using the Torque engine. That should have been completed years ago, but now that many distractions are now dealt with, i can concentrate on researching code, assets, etc.  I give that maybe 2 months to 3 years.

Thursdays and Fridays,

I am into the retro scene.  I have several projects going there as well.  1.  Learning assembly code, basically 6502 since Commodore, Atari and Apple uses it, z80 since Sinclair and trs-80 uses it. and the 68000 machines.  (Take a guess who uses that processor) 2.  Delta ?   a 6502 .asm project (with a concept inspired by GORF) developed using the C-64 machine then ported to other platforms. 3. Translating a book of ZX-81 games to various platforms, starting with the VIC-20, then the MC-10, perhaps the TRS-80, and the Sinclair QL.

Then in my spare time, I play games.
Prepare to be assimilated !  Resistance is futile!

Not exactly working on a game at the moment but actively working hard on my 4th framework for AGK. Main reason for doing this is I'm creating a bunch of shaders to up the 2D side like lights, normals, shadows, glow, general effects, etc. Thanks to ChatGPT and learning slowly.

So this was a good excuse to redo the framework and tools, optimise it, improve it and hopefully I'll end up with a much more capable 2D/3D tool chain for AGK and games going forward. The 2D side will be finished first and then I'll move on to see what shader magic I can do to aid on the 3D side, mainly lighting and shadows + code a lot of helper functions as when doing my IK+ entry for the last game comp AGK's 3D side was a PTA to work with.

As AGK is no longer in active development then I'm always concerned that an update to MacOS or Windows will break AGK and the community can't fix it or they say it's be x months to do. With that in mind I still dabble with Unity and soon Godot so I've other options.

Mac Studio M4 Max ( 14 core CPU - 32 core GPU ), 32GB LPDDR5, 512GB SSD.
Beelink SER7 Mini Gaming PC, Ryzen 7 7840HS 8-Core 16-Thread 5.1GHz Processor, 64GB DDR5 RAM, 2T PCIe 4.0 SSD.
Microsoft Surface Pro 11 ( Snapdragon® X Elite ), 16GB RAM, 512GB SDD.
ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM OLED 240Hz.

Until the next time.

what do you mean by that ? you ask ChatGPT to explain concepts about what you want to achieve in 2d or 3d ?

(i only use ChatGPT to learn spanish and talk about news in spanish)

Derron

I guess he is talking about what he wants to achieve with a shader ... chatgtp looks what others did in the past -- I mean, "thinks". ... and then tries to post things to him.
Then things do not work as expected or throw errors - and you tell chatgpt.

Rinse and Repeat until chatgpt begins to do cycles (does not improve the code but repeats the same errors over and over).

Iterative "development" so to say.
