yep, to have got 2nd place is great - so thanks to everyone who entered and voted. All comments absorbed and thought on.

Very happy about the music comments - nailed it \0/ Particularly as everything is realtime and getting to this point was said to have been not possible (not on this forum, but from a technical position)

I completely accept that Neon was not best suited for a one button game - wipeout was my core direction - so who know if there will be a neon 2 or redux?
Psst - I usually use both the left and right keys (once you get the sync it's much more forgiving)

It's been very interesting to see hw people interpreted the one button rule. My main shout is 'NOT FOR THE MENUS' - lol

But really good entires and congrats to all who tried, failed, succeeded, cried, lost sleep etc.

Congratulations to the winners and all participants.  Speaking from experience, finishing something is an achievement in itself!

Well done all! :D

QuoteHang on, nobody said Stevie's game had tits in it. Can I still change my vote?

I wonder if anybody managed to unlock the sexy stripper in EPTS.  :))
Rather unfortunate no one got that far. it's designed to feel hard but it's actually easy.  :o

Tell me how the control works for the game, in case I was doing it wrong, Mr M. I wanted to have another crack at the game to unlock my character too :)

Not that I'm interested in a sexy stripper in PSOne pixel visuals. Oh no, not me...

mash the button to charge the meter but don't over do it.
Stop mashing relatively near the jump line, every course has one.
Then do the [press and hold] or [release] the action button to move the arrow.
The balance meter has markers to help indicate the action.
center marker = straight
second L/R marker = shift left or right
farthest L/R marker = break/slowdown
anything over = face plant

The trick is collect the score pickups, and hit the ramps which let you slide on tables to fill and maintain your charge meter.
That will allow you go further, from there its just matter finding the right path/line to slide down.
There's a cheat in the fake piracy screen you'll need to do as well.

I'm not sure if the game runs at an FPS greater than 60[my limit] but i'm sure most GFX setup's have a limiter these day's.
my high end does.

@Darron ... it's definitely a sexy hot chick with custom animations. 8)
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

Congratulations to the winners! I apologise for not voting, big week last week and didn't make time for it.

I didn't expect to win as mine's a very niche entry, but I do apologise that multiple people had download issues.

Derron says: she wears a pixelated pink (or more wine red) bikini and a thong.

Am not aware of the ".bca" format but found it interesting enough to ... peek a bit into the data :D
Seems "bca" removes some parts from the PNG files (which you use for textures) (like the magic bytes in the header). But it left in the IHDR and IEND block information ... so bringing in some of the required bytes et voila ...190 PNG files :)

I wont hand out the script here (will PM it to you) ... but will simply append a bit of the texture for her.

There is a tool called BBcruncher which allows for extraction and patching of assets.  8)
Although the latest version of EPTS which fixed a few thing's is complied to a single exe.

It's true. Next game should be hello kitty where the objective is to stroke the cat to gain terrific scores and no bad guys.

PS: Please add an easy mode :-)

Maybe for the next comp we need to rope in actual gamers  :)) Let's be honest - most Devs give shite feedback and aren't really your target audience. Maybe also have a constraint that each game must be completeable (is that a word) in 15 minutes max - good for voters and devs alike?  ;D

Where to get the gamers from is the question. If someone had a contact with a school or college that maybe have a game design or journalism class then you could probably rope in some of those kids to do it for grades. Other than that, I can't think of a good source.

The next competition idea is interesting though. Has to be completable (yes, it is a word) within 15 minutes, but there's nothing to say that it's the default. Maybe on easy mode so the whole game can be demo'd for those voters without much time, but there could be a harder mode with more content as well, perhaps.
