[I think Xerra has a mac and used parallels to try the pc games.

I do and I do. Most of the time this works absolutely fine because we're not exactly knocking out AAA titles here, and my Mac is more than enough of a beast to run anything windows only that I throw at it via parallels. I do see Ron's point to an extent, where I'd love to see more games and software supporting Mac out there, but I'm also very aware that Apple actually make it hard for people to do this unless it's specifically a path you want to go down.

Apple equipment is fucking expensive - no beating about the bush. And Apple try to force you to use the genuine equipment to actually create software for their platform. I've always thought that's kind of pissing on your own head and wondering why it's raining.

I also can't be so arrogant as to demand people should be catering for me just because I want to be one of the 2% who don't want to work on what is still the industry standard OS. Not suggesting Ron is by the way - his comments didn't come across that way at all. It's just like someone buying an electric car and then expecting all the petrol stations to now have a charging point for them, even though there isn't yet the business to make that viable.

So, yeah, parallels lets me play these games just fine, and I've got no right to demand people give me Mac versions just because I want to use those machines.

But apparently Mac Users tend to expect to pay for software...So if you're selling software, maybe something to think about?

Last time I ventured into Mac land was with my kids ipods. Yep, Apple did an ace job of convincing me that I wouldn't touch their business model oriented hardware with a barge pole. Erm, you might guess not an apple fan boy.....

A good point. Naturally Mac users do expect that software is going to cost a bit more for their platform. One look on the App Store is enough to give me a heart attack. I am a bit of a bargain hunter though so always look for the cheaper option :)

So, if you've written a game that you think is the dogs bollocks, then you could try and charge a bit more for it on Mac. But every decent site for selling games you'd have to list it as an option with the PC version and, as generous as Mac users are with their money, they're not going to pay an extra few quid for your awesome game if they can clearly see you're selling it for peanuts on the Windows build.

I've always paid for software both on Windows and Mac. Although I have in the past acquired some via other methods ( who hasn't ) for testing purposes of course. But these days everything is legit \o/ - Well sometimes having legit software can be a pain in the arse when I want to use it on both my intel Mac and Mac M1 as I have to deactivate / activate the license back and forth and I'm not going to buy another license for something I don't use most days ( ionCube encoder being a prime example ).

If releasing games then a Windows version is the top priority and if you can do a MacOS / Linux version without much work then that's just an extra bonus. Most people have access to Windows so it makes little sense to prioritise other desktop formats.

slight off topic :
in the defense of cracked/pirated software :
i have 2 android tablets, which both worked very well to browse the web and to watch youtube videos (with the youtube app)
a few months ago, some developpers have decided that these 2 tablets are too old / not the right specs to update to the last version of youtube app. i can't use the youtube app anymore, but it worked well one month before...
this is called 'planned obsolescence', i hate it.
a cracked/modified version of youtube app would be appreciated in this case...

Congrats to the winners!

Do I get the wooden spoon  :P

I spent too much time trying to get a Diddy-ish framework into AGK working than actually programming the game, thanks to all that actually played it!

My tech issues overcame me this time round - but I'm learning fast and have a small active team now \o/

QuoteYou have a team? :o
It's just me and 2 others who are the brains behind Wonkey. Well they are the real brains. I just throw things at them...

But I have started to convert the wonkey ide into something I feel it usable - it now resembles visual studio code - lol
