I had a game idea in mind but found only 1 single evening to actually do something for it (hand painted a 3d trunk and the floor elements):
- randy rabbit on the look for ... food and fu...n
- auto runner style
- hit button when approaching something interesting
- rhythm bar appears and lets you hit the button in a kind of rhythm
- interesting elements have different uhmmm... rhythms
- food: snack, snack, snack, ... so steady pattern
- fu...n: start kinda slow but get faster steadily (hidden behind a cloud of "love heart" particles or so)
- the more near the "rhythm patterns" you hit the button, the more "perfect" you solved that situation
- food situation: gives more "energy" (in terms of "remaining time")
- fu...n situation: more points / scores
- fu...n situation 2 (you mistakingly have choosen a buck and not a doe - so male): either tap tap tap rapidly to get away fast, or do a slow build up for a ..."make the best out of the situation"
- gameplay ends when time runs out, highscore etc...

Of course all should have been presented in a "comic/toon"-esque art style, so a bit of a "old man / 80s"-humor which wouldn't have been quite "political correct".

So yeah, if someone finds it interesting - you still have a handful of days to make it a game :)

At least I now have a rather low poly trunk ... and excercised a bit in texture painting. Wished I had more spare time for the game but yeah ... judging by the other contestants shows that I would have been out of any chance anyways :D

I'm out too, I've finally decided. Second idea was working a bit better than the first but nothing particularly clever or original about it, and it wasn't coming together so I canned that too.

Maybe I could write connect 4 on one button control and get it out there for Sunday :)

Went with the idea of a tetris game where you play with only one key:
https://imgur.com/a/Zm7Jltn

-You can play alone or multiplayer (up to 4 players) with a shared keyboard (reminds me of the games I played on my first computer)
-Still needs some work, hope to get it on time.

See! I can't even write a one-button connect 4 game now because someone beat me to it :-)

Good work.

Thanks, your idea just challenged me to see if I could put something together quick, no assets with Halloween theme.

There is Windows and Linux version in the file. I only tested in Windows 10.

This is a game that was meant to be developed 30 years ago for Atari. Computer version of the popular game - electric car racing. The control is only adding and subtracting power with the right Ctrl key (or the left key for the other player).

Extra Keys (I hope not to get disqualified :p ):

1-9: number of laps (10-90)
W: change view (useful for slow computers)
C: second player (left Ctrl)
K: computer

Game written in RC Basic (less than 500 lines of code, including the definition of sprites and tracks). Recommended monitor refresh: 60 Hz. Interesting facts - it does not use a pseudo-random generator, there is a real, "natural" randomness in it. :)

PS

You always have to answer these stupid questions, write something here ??

I somehow think the sound effects are (literally) man made :)

Extra Keys (I hope not to get disqualified :p )
Welcome to SyntaxBomb :)

If your "main game" requires more than one key to play it then that is unfortunately against the rules of the competition :( - So once you started playing then the whole game must be playable with just one key alone.

The only places you can have any control methods are the Main menu, options screen, pause / resume key etc.
Mac Studio M1 Max ( 10 core CPU - 24 core GPU ), 32GB LPDDR5, 512GB SSD,
Beelink SER7 Mini Gaming PC, Ryzen 7 7840HS 8-Core 16-Thread 5.1GHz Processor, 32G DDR5 RAM 1T PCIe 4.0 SSD
MSI MEG 342C 34" QD-OLED Monitor

Until the next time.

=========== Submission Post:

Game Title: "Robotekus"

Download link:  https://metamorpho-sg.itch.io/robotekus

OS requirements: for Windows 7/8/10
Required dependancies: all included
Game made on AppGameKit Classic

Brief info about game:
The place of action is the scientific station "Robotekus" - for the development of robotics and artificial intelligence.
The station is located in space orbiting one of the major galactic centers.
Suddenly, almost all of the scientists were locked in their rooms. It turned out that the powerful artificial intelligence (AI)
that was created at this station got out of control. AI controls the entire station and almost all equipment. Only one
experimental (unfinished)  of the robot, the AI could not completely block. A software scientist named John, bypassing
AI locks, was able to partially take control of this experimental robot. The limited control of the robot lies in the fact that
the robot can be fed only one control signal that switches the modes of operation of the robot.
The robot switches in the following sequence = "no movement" ---- "movement" ---- "flight".
With the help of this robot, John decided to stop the AI - for this you need to get to the manual emergency power
outages of AI systems. To get to the emergency shutdown, you need to go through several compartments of the station.
To open the transition to the next level, you need to collect all the energy batteries. Of course the AI will try to stop you
so be prepared for surprises.   The game has 10 levels.
-------------------------------
Control keys:

The game is controlled with one key ="Ctrl"
This key one function - switching robot mode.
-------------------------------------------
Options:
quitting the game = "Alt + F4"

There are two ways to adjust the game speed:
1.  During the game, decrease or increase the speed - use the keys "Home"  "End"
2. Who has a very powerful computer can turn synchronization VSync in main menu game.

The screen size can be increased by expanding the window. You can also turn on the full screen.

The volume of sounds and music is regulated in the options.
There is no music on the levels, but there is an atmospheric
background sound from the station - I hope this was a good idea :)

-------------------------------------------------
If it gives an error at startup, then here is a possible solution to the problem:

- place the game on any disk in any of your user folders for example C: \ MyGame (it is better not to place the game in
any system folders like C: \ ProgramFiles)
- if the game is located in C: \ ProgramFiles then run the file (.exe) of the game as administrator
- the path of the game directory should be only English letters

@metamorpho
Ah dude, your game uses more than a one button control?, having the directional keys available is 4 buttons to many.
especially if they do the same thing.
You don't actually need them,just use a keyconfig.  :D
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..
