Question: does one feature of a controlling device include an axxis of a Mouse or a Stick on a gamepad, an analog button on a gamepad? Or are we bound to Buttons with 2 states, on and off?
Single on / off state be it a key on a keyboard, click on a mouse, button on a joystick / joypad ( X Y etc ). No analog input for main gameplay.

Edit : Just to be clear, you can not use one key and one mouse click. The main game must be assigned to a single on/off input from one device.

Question: Is it ok to use a single mouse button AND the mouse movement?

Another Question: A game like based on tetris (similar rules but different controls) would be ellegible to enter the comp?

Thank you!

Edit: Didn't see this:
"You can use a mouse or joystick / joypad but only one button can be used. You can not use any other features of that device."

So the "line graphics only" constraint is gone? Raises the bar, but makes some things easier...
Yup, banished for now. I didn't want the torrent of posts saying how some can't draw anything with lines :)) Plus only allowing one key should be enough to get the brain cells working away.

I see you've answered your first question and you are correct, you can not use the mouse for moving but you can use one it it's button for an on / off state.

As far as a game like Tetris goes there are zillions of variants so I can't see an issue with that so long as you don't do a clone but rather your version of.

QuoteDoes Sean Connery say there can be only one?
This line was originally spoken by Kurgan (played by Clancy Brown) in Highlander, directed by Russell Mulcahy (1986). With its multiple Queen songs, sword fights, and Sean Connery playing a character with four last names, Highlander is a great little film from the mid-1980s.

My wife showed my kids highlander (.... they're 20 & 22 ) whilst I was away with work - they were dismayed Queen were associated with it.....  I'm still a fan !!!!

Onto the entre' - how to work swords, lightning, and decapitation into a one button game - where theres a will theres a way - God loves a trier!   :o :o 8) 8) ;D ;D

Quotebuilding a 3D printer from scratch at the moment,
. Sounds fun! Which one?

Literally from scratch. I bought aluminium extrusion, stepper motors, drivers (plus very long list) etc as parts and I'm working it out as I go. I've made some of the parts from aluminium or composite sheet too.

Great movie, great band.  Don't know how anyone can be dismayed by it.  Unless she showed them Highlander II: The Quickening.

Back on-thread, I've an idea for a game and have started on-time for once with some graphics creation.   :D

Thanks, yes just the look I was going for - a cartoony Indiana Jones character.   :)

Cheers Qube, I think it sets up people's expectations and understanding of what you'll face.  There was Indiana Jones with the iconic hat, followed by games like Rick Dangerous and others that borrowed the Indy hat for that very reason.

Made some tweaks as per my Avatar.

@Steve Loving it. especially the color palette.

I havent come up with any thoughts yet. but I'm toying with something vector based...

Steve Elliott

Cheers Adam, it took me a while to come up with a palette (I'm using 32 colours for the game).

Vector based, cool.   8)
