QuoteI think MrmediamanX has fucking nailed it here.

Thanks man, It's got that jaggy-tastic antialiased look going on. I'm just wondering how small can I get it as of right now it's colossal ... 25MB  ;D
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

Derron

64 MiB were the biggest cardridges on the N64 ...

OMG, you're not using BMP's (rather than PNG's) and WAV music (rather than ogg) are you?   :o

mp3 and ogg - play with encoder settings to shape of additional 50%.

As there is enough time for you to finish, why not create some mod/x3m files (tracker music). :)

@ PNG
For textures you could check out .jpg too.

Hehe just checking.   ;D  Actually languages like Blitz3D and AGK produce larger exe's because the whole 3D Engine is added to the exe (even if you produce a 2D Game).  My game isn't finished, but it's nearly 10Mb already, and I haven't added any music yet (8.98Mb for the exe alone).

If it can sound like an N64 sound font I guess I could.
Side note due to Xerra's OCD i've just added gold star and fist statue trophies for collecting all stars in each level and defeating all enemies in each level.

Watching the video again it looks like some of the bad guys get kinda stuck and don't animate when you smack them. If you've got time to fix that then that might be a good plan. Also noted lack of restart points when you get killed? Might be just me getting lost, however.

Additionally.. Xerra's bar.. I don't see it anywhere in the video :-)

for now the enemy animations are a single play back format, but I can have them flail about using loop animation format.

The levels are pretty small but open. no need for check points really.

No Xerra's bar this time boss, but I can add you as NPC giving info on the star and enemy trophy statues.
T'was technically your idea.

Well I don't think I'll complete in time lol, but I guess I could add a few rotating asteroids and a UFO and call it an asteroids remake, to complete on time.

There's more code behind the scenes/game engine than is shown in the screenshots, including the vector graphics code.  Everything bar the explosion is vector based, rather than sprite based; even the text font.  Each part of every letter is drawn line by line (such as the intro screen) which describes the basic idea of the game.  This means I can position, scale and rotate every piece of the game without any distortion (like you get in a sprite based game) with 3d-like pixel by pixel movement smoothness.  I've always loved the sharp high resolution lines and movement smoothness of vector graphics ever since seeing Asteroids, Battlezone and Star Wars games in the arcades as I grew-up.

But the game is not going to be an Asteroids clone, it's a game of rescuing Terraformers from the caves of planets, while dealing with alien defences.

Thanks, it looks better moving than still.  I think I *will* first produce an Asteroids game to have a game entry if I don't get all the features I want in the main game.  And if I do complete the main game then you have 2 games to play.

A couple of mock-up screens, which consist of the actual game running with added cave and Terraformer mock up for the main game - and an asteroid for the second game.  I guess I'm still looking at graphics options.
