@Steve, goddamnit man, give the competition a chance for once, you've got sprites, bullets, the infinity of space already..... Oops, wrong Steve.

I retract my statement, I need more of the KISS approach to this compo, if u catch my drift.  :)

You could ask Qube nicely, if you want a snog that bad. You ain't getting one off me unless you remake one of my games, however :-)

Or you remake mine - and instead of fighting planets like in Genus Prime - you create a "Virus Prime" in a risk-like environment (aka "on Earth"). 3-4 Viruses compete against each other - and "neutral" units fight all of them (so virus versus virus versus world). "Virus Prime".

Ok... this already sounds as if I could do that but I am pretty much running out of time these days, kids at home (kindergarten closed), have to do home office and wife working on weekends too. Also I think there is the Pandemic game around already.

PS: Recreate my "Trick or Sweets" - "Pills or Ills" and you might get my vote ... except there is a better game around of course.

bye

Having a real dither today trying to decide what to reboot. Got it narrowed down to three games now.

Adam's Syntax Bomb, Genus prime or Tower Swaps.

I've never done a platform game so Syntax Bomb would be a good challenge but I don't think I could better Adam's work.

Genus Prime is fucking genius and I don't think I could better that either, certainly not in 7 weeks.

Tower Swaps is one of my favourite competition entries yet and I could probably do it but I'm just not sure if it would make a mark in a competition now.

Decisions, decisions...

Maybe you're already aware of this...all my competition games are browser based in plain Javascript. ..meaning you have the source code already and media should you decide to reboot any of mine....

iWasAdam

true but...
QuoteEntrants may reuse any media from their previous entry but can not use any media from other entrants even if they have given permission.

So no nicking the media - it's got to be your work

I'm reimaging 'Qube's the last Ginger ninja' due to it having elements open for an alternative iteration and it's simple design which can go in practically any direction..
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

Okey doke. got my pick.
It was originally 2d and staying 2d but not quite!
There was some strategy involved, so that's what I need to focus on.
It had a good concept, so I need to take that and run with it...  ::)

Most of all: DON'T BREAK IT!

Not going to tell us what game you're rebooting? Keeping us in suspense?

I've now changed my mind on doing the three games that I eventually had whittled it down to. Still doing some work to prototype what I have in mind but I can use some of the code from two of my old games (one unfinished) to work it out a lot quicker. If it comes off then I think this could turn out really well.

I'll do a worklog once I commit myself to it but I'd say that the nearest games to link it to as a reboot would be Creature Corp and the Big, Dark adventure. If I was linking it to one of my own games then probably Bah, Humbug!, but I'm definitely not doing an adventure game.

Will see how it works out by the end of the weekend.
