I assume the rules need a little adjustment ;-)

I first misinterpreted it as "you can reuse media of the game you remake/sequalize" but it just means you could reuse assets if you redo your own previous entry.

Will have to check out t the entries to see if there are one..or two entries (next to my superb creations) worth of a reimagination  :P.  Maybe Qube's Tank game becomes a Thanks game with peace flower shooting tanks ;-)

Hehe, yeah I noticed that.  So no direct copy of the SyntaxBomb game...which was a remake...Makes Asteroids...No, not really I've chosen another game that I really enjoyed from a certain SB Coder.   ;D

But Asteroids can also be reimagined, as in Astral Eye'd.

Good to see no limitations though (such as colour and resolution).  That does really open-up possibilities, and as for remakes look what Stevie did with a Pac-Man clone in 'Vanarchy'.  You would hardly call that a standard remake of Pac-Man!  Some imagination/reimagining made it something very different.

If somebody who never entered before and doesn't want to remake, re-imagine other's previous work can he/she just make a game by choosing one of the previous compo themes to come up with something new that's different than previous entries?

The compos are for fun - so topic restrictions are often very "loose". With the amount of linked compos - and so dozens of dozens of entries, you might be able to find the single entry who can "somehow" be linked to your game idea.

So see my "Genus Prime", a game about sending ships from planets to other planets to conquer the universe. You could abstract it to "conquer planets" and make it a 3d scifi actioner. You could make it a "diplomacy game" - heck, even "tic tac toe in space" (to conquer a planet - a single one per level) could be done under the banner of "reimagination".

In other words: if you have a game idea in mind, why not make theming of the game meet one of the "themed" entries? Just think of all these movies which were totally unrelated to some successful older movies. They name some of the actors like the uncle of the main character in the other movie and voila ... connection done.

Of course Qube has lasts word on this so maybe it is up to ignore my post :)

Lol, yes, I have made an adjustment to hopefully make it more clear.

Entries should be as per competition states. However for this comp ( as it's so wide ranging ) so long as you can link it to any previous game, no matter how tenuous the link, then that's all good here ;D

Overall though the comps are for fun to get that game coding mojo back :)

Just as I was wondering how to spend my free time 'Boom!' Another gaming compo - awesome sauce.....

Now.... what language to choose - I really should dig into AGK2 Studio seeing as I've done next to nowt with it.

But I've enrolled on an Open University micro credential course - Hmm, might have to reduce the old mojo fuel (Bud Light generally these days) to .... increase my coding mojo.

So what to pick from as well - so much scrumptious food for thought  :P

Cool, it'll be interesting to see what you come up with.  I started today, I've drawn 1 sprite so far lol.

Half the fun is seeing just how much mojo can be re-juvenated with some good old competitive spirit (s), although spirits have their limits! 😁

I'm in, I already have an idea on which previous entry I plan on rebooting. :D
It's a thing that doe's when it don't..

Damn, I've been away for a few days so just caught up here. Thinking I'm up for it but no concrete idea of what to do yet. I'm going to go through all the compo entries again and see which ones played the best for me. Or should I redo one of mine? Decisions, decisions.

Here's a picture of my ship sprite moving across the screen firing bullets with keys for rotating the ship (well it's a start).  I'm going for the 8-Bit Wars category with a reimagining of 'Gravitus' by Morpheus.

Although as per the rules I'm allowing myself to use a different resolution and amount of colours.  I don't have a name just yet.   :)
