Well my comp entry will be finished but it'll be about 1.5hrs over the deadline :o But as I've been having issues with the audio I'm considering them bugs which need to be squashed before I can upload. So like it or lump it :P If anyone has an issue with my submission being a tiny bit late then take it up with the admins  ;D

I'd like to point out that the admins are easily swayed by bribes of the fistful-of-fivers variation, so please feel free to call my secretary and make an appointment for us to do lunch. We can talk terms then of how much us admins want to conveniently not notice you're a little late to the finish-line.

Gotta make a living, right? :-)

Or just post it up now and fix the audio in the next two weeks anyway.

Qube is a hacker ... he might simply hack into this server and alter the timestamp of the post he does this very next morning.
He might as well be a soo experience hacker that he can almost read the login credentials from the server admin's computer.

Qubes Cube Racer

Downloads :
Windows ( v1.0.1 - fixed sound )
Mac ( v1.0.1 - fixed sound )
Linux ( v1.0.1 - fixed sound )

Instructions :
Race around a circuit of Qube's Cubes. All the models are entirely made of six sided cubes  ;D

Cursor Keys : Left / Right Steer and Up / Down accelerate & brake
P : Pause

Additional :
The sound is massively broken at the moment. I stupidly decided to create a sound manager this afternoon and totally messed things up. I'll have to fix this during bug week.

Also some of the game elements need tweaking but I doubt those could be classed as a bug.

Took ages to create the graphics. You could have thought that just using cubes would be a massive time saver  ::)

Until the next time.

Already spotted a bug in qube's game: the HUD elements are not made out of blocks :D

So for a bugfix I would suggest to use a "voxelize" filter/mod on the models and some "pixel" font.
Yet it seems as if this is another Unity game and Qube dipped a toe into the unity pond again - seems to enjoy it.

Edit: Blender - > Remesh -> Blocks (and afterwards recolouring the vertices before rendering). Attached example

Damn! I completely missed that I didn't do the clock using cubes. I shall have to fix that  :))

I did try a square font but didn't like it. I also tried a retro chunky pixel look ( like a PS1 ) but didn't like that either. The models are all cubes so that's the main thing.

Yes, dived into Unity for this comp entry as AGK's 3D side is severely lacking. Learned quite a lot including how to really screw up a sound system :P but I've already ripped out all the side and redoing it. At least the cars now have a proper Doppler effect when you pass them.

Neat idea with Blender thing 8)

Luckily I managed to grab a base model Mac Mini M1 from very.co.uk which I can pay off over 12 months so I was pleased to be using Cheetah3D again.

If anyone likes the game ( when the sound bugs fixed ) and you have a half decent GPU then I've a night time version of the game using deferred rendering for the lights. Looks pretty cool so will probably build that in as an option from the main menu.

Well.... If there was going to be carte-blanch approach to deadlines, I wouldn't have submitted my effort 48 hours early :o

Seriously though, no qualms here about deadlines... I'VE sweated on them myself in previous compos with dying computers.

Anyway, just Wow at Qubes entry!

I'm a bit of a Mario kart fan.... 😁😎

Two weeks for bug fixes now then. Plenty of time to wrinkle out the cracks - we hope.

4 games means you slackers are all going to have to vote after all :-)

I'm going to have to turn my coding iron up to Super Duper Hotski to get the wrinkles out of my submission.

MrmediamanX, I like the look of that. Hopefully the gameplay will be as interesting as it seems.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. It's a bit basic.

My entry was complete in time but in the early evening I thought I'd just tidy up the sound management system and screwed things way beyond I'd thought possible. I had to take out the menu screen and some in game features to speed things up and then shoehorn in some horrendous replacement. The sound in the submitted version is still broken but at least I was able to compile in the state.

It wouldn't compile until I fixed everything. Game was genuinely bugged and in and non compileable state :(

Will uploaded the proper bugged fixed version once I know a little more about what I'm doing in Unity :))

You have Sound and Amazing Gfx, fair play  ;)

I'm still wrestling with where AGK looks for your current projects 'files', been a right pain in the proverbial. To be fair, it's my lack of familiarity with the IDE / environment more than anything else.

Yet again Qube, for all my Bug ridden excuse for a dame entry is wanting somewhat at the moment, the inspiration for my entries gameplay is Astro Wars... I think it was called. During Bug fix I hope to extoll the trepidation of dodging the incoming aliens......

My point was, a big thanks for keeping my coding mojo still burning, if only in pilot light mode ;)

Sound is actually functional now :)) - The options button doesn't do anything yet as I didn't get any time to do it before the comp finished. Will upload after the voting has finished.
