Description: I got a subscription for GPT4 recently. I was asking for some variations on a isometric tile map and one moment I realized how I could do those tile maps seen in populous or powermonger. Using html and javascript. By starting with a connected wireframe isometric tile map, and then raising one point. (All points are put in a array for ease.) then when drawing the map the tiles automatically reconfigure and turn into those tiles that add height and depth. I use the Javascript fill() shapes to draw the tiles. I added some shading and texture and editing later on. Still early and needs tweaking. See my github for the Javascript files : https://github.com/Pakz001/html5examples/tree/master/Games/populous Edit : I might try to convert it to a 'virus'(amiga game) style map. This by adding scrolling and by adding a heightmap. Having it as a wireframe seems to open up a new way of looking at it. Rotation is something still under investigation.
