Hey Hardcoal, Ha! We're waiting for you here.. http://blitzcoder.org  :D

Hey RonTek, could you do me a favour and please stop with the constant promoting of your site on here?, thanks. I've avoided bringing this up but it's been cropping up continually for the last couple of months. I'm all for other forums, don't get me wrong but there comes a point when it's constantly promoted that I have to say enough is enough.

I'm sure you would possible feel the same if I joined your forum and took every opportunity to ask members to join here?. Perhaps not, but to put it into perspective I have not joined any forums and promoted this site. I only made one post on the BB forums when it was announced they were closing and that is it. If I were to join, say SoCoder and keep pushing here I'm sure the admin / mods would quite quickly put a stop to it.

Sorry if this comes across as a bit shitty and I loose you and other members because of it but I do find it wrong to keep promoting your own forum here. I don't do it and I would hope that others don't too out of respect for the forum they are posting on. Sure, post once to show members what you are doing but not every chance you get.

No doubt I now look like a complete ass but I just find it difficult to continually allow the effectively asking of "join me instead of here" requests.

If i didnt express my wish I would never hear about Rontek Site..
I dont think by replying to my post Rontek has done something wrong..  or immoral..

Since blitzbasic website went down there was no suitable replacement..
Entering a Subtopic on a General programming Website is not sufficient enough, therefore i was barely logging in..
RonTek raised the glove and Established a proper dedicated Blitz Website..

how would you expect him to notify me about his site, by PM?

Besides.. if Syntax bomb is better for hosting blitz programming, what have you got to worry about
if the mutual interest is to support blitz?

I understand your side Qube. but this is not a competition is it?

Besides, you can promote your website in his website too :)

Ok, its none of my business, I just wanted to say, he didn't promote his website in this case, he just replied to my wish
instead of hiding the truth as you are hinting here.

Cheers, Ive said my word, Tnx for having syntax bomb as well

Hey Cube,

I could not have said it better, Hardcoal already explained it. I thought we already established this and all is good even though I honestly don't do any site promoting nowadays, just answering his question in a lively and exciting manner since he did ask for it. If you also check my previous posts, most of them are all about Blitz3D, BlitzMax, and Monkey stuff. I agree, I don't even see any competition here so if it comes or sound that I'm promoting the site, then I do apologize.

cheers.

Derron

I am on RonTek's and Hardcoals side here.

Someone asked for a special website - and someone replied to it.

If I was on a "board game" forum and someone asks for a "monopoly-specialized" forum, would you blame others if they linked to these forums?

I do not know if you moderated/deleted hundreds of topics about that RonTek-Website - I am visiting these forums more than daily and was not buried under "promotion links". I did not feel offended by him. I only can remember the argument about socoder (or whoever it was) forums blaming your forum and the moment of the "is a blitz*-website really needed"-thread.

bye

Shocker! :P

Now that's just being pedantic as that is not what I was saying, is it?

Buried is being a little dramatic but I do think that multiple times in two months is a lot.

No it's not and I fully support others letting us know they have a website / forum.

QuoteBesides, you can promote your website in his website too :)
But I never would. I kinda find repeated posts about joining "my" forum kinda rude in a way to the owner of the forum I'm posting on.

Perhaps I'm being over the top, perhaps not. It could be that as site owner it stands out more to me. I just think it is a little too much that is all.

Half of these links was about:
- GNet (-Servers)
- Flow3D-progress report
- Code archives

I understand that you do not want to have "too much advertisement" but as said _I_ did not feel spammed by the forum/website-links. Nonetheless it is your site, so things should be accepted. Rules of the house.

Aside of that both forums lack of "public visibility" so it is surely just a kind of "second home" instead of a "new home" thingy. And without more users on both sides it wont change at all.

@Qube>>to comfort you : syntaxbomb forums are less buggy than blitzcoder forums, and there are more active members here, and your competitions with money to win will probably attract more members, so for the moment, you win !  ;D

Thanks Derron. At least we see some honest feedback here from BlitzMax users like HC and Derron.

Qube, as I have said I really don't do promotions nowadays, but if someone asked, the site is there that I can point to. You know how it got started, you also took my side during that war averted thing (actually it's more like a confusion rather than a war) which I really appreciate so let's not overthink things here. cheers.

less buggy than blitzcoder forums,

honestly it is and I like how it turned out. I made it from the ground up btw (with the help of some frameworks of course, can't do without it these days) :) ..not like what scoder guy is thinking.

My opinion : the more alternatives the better, and i bet that the most easy to use/ bug free / animated / helping forums will naturally attract more members/activity/contributions...
We have already seen that in the past, many alternatives, many disappeared, only a few remain... So do your best to keep them alive.

Personally i will post on both, depending on the case...

@Rontek>>no offense, i just don't like your custom codes to add images and stuff, and the formating of messages seems buggy. But i am sure that you will manage to improve it !

I agree and thanks a lot RemiD. Yes, it's a work in progress and as for that custom codes stuff, it's markdown language which is really a new thing to adjust to for some who got used to traditional BB stuff.
