AppGameKit I might just continue learning it and take it to the next level.

Right I think I have the urge to quit learning a new language which could take me a year to catch up to where I am with AGK maybe more or move forward into new areas with AGK and save a years work at least. I think I might as well stick with AGK and move forward into new areas. I'm gonna start something new soon and I'm gonna learn something new and that is storing data e.g. high score tables and other things. I have a few gaps in my knowledge and am gonna sort that over the coming months. I always feel better when I am working on something. My problem  with learning Lua was I new very little Lua and I needed some documentation to help me learn it and I could not find what I wanted.
I may pick it up again in the future but for now I'm gonna stick with AGK and BASIC. BASIC is seriously underestimated and does it matter if I write my program in AGK teir 1 , Lua or C# . It will accomplish the same thing and would look the same as long as you can hit at least 60 fps and BASIC is pretty fast these days with the latest compilers.  Enjoy your day

Hi. I'm pleased your interested I just don't want horrible outcome like wasting one's life and left hanging. Heh. But it's for fun (programming).

Yeah you shouldn't bother with Lua. I'd want to use agk too. With me, I kinda have experience and know how to accomplish what I want and so I'm going direct to the fun writing the game. I still need advice and what not too maybe I'd hit roadblocks in the programming.

I like tgc.

imo no doubt agk would be the choice and I would use it too if I wasn't so committed to blitz and its generalist language. Blitz is my choice. :) but I seriously consider agk too. I bet I wouldn't be wrong choosing that for my project also and I may down the road, especially with Linux support and a company behind it. No doubt blitz was great for learning like I did programming a tile terrain system although I didn't complete it and tgc dark basic would had been the dev kit for complete games. I've never used it though. I'm going to go look at agk I'm just so committed to blitz and my friends are here. I prefer a hardcode write it yourself basic Lang too general Lang too.

It's like the carving in the stone Michaelangelo thing its all here
for me. I left my project because it started to seem like a kids thing. But I miss programming and want to continue dev
im still interested in game app development even if its oldschool. i have ideas i want to try myself in this project if i can ever accomplish it.

This is the first and only time in my life I feel like I actually can complete a project. I don't mean to be narcissist talking about myself, just relating.

What project do you want to do?

So I looked at agk and such and it uses a scripting language. It used to say Linux support but not anymore.

Look forward to seeing some of your creations! Good Luck! ;)

I find you have to stick to one language that your comfortable with. And keep chipping away at it. Most of all Have Fun with it.

I've looked at quite a few systems for games and general programming and for me AGK S is up there with the best. The reason I wanted to find something else as a replacement is AGK S is no longer being developed but I've decided to continue using and developing with AGK S because to take 3 years to learn something and then abandon something to almost start  from the beginning again is madness. So I'm gonna stay right where I am for now and carry on with AGK S. I'm pleased I chose AGK when I did as the quality of the whole thing is very good and I'm getting some nice results. I do see what you guys mean about jumping languages and to a point I agree with you however if you do not like what you're working with then maybe it is the way to go.
  Have a nice day

You know what keep posting man. Although pfaber is like a username I remember i may have registered.

I don't want to use agk because it's scripting and not also a generalist language to incorporate other things although I'm not sure what I'd be adding maybe i could still do what i want. You keep talking about jumping languages. Take your time. Another scenario adjacent to jumping languages is taking time for your life and coming back to program later with a fresh perspective but having forgotten things. I have except its all still there. :)

Hey William I think AGK S is great and yes it is being worked on on git hub and hopefully will be for the future.

Been playing with the fog command and it really is very cool. I did try it about a year ago but it was rubbish or so I thought. I was thinking about it the wrong way anyway it's easy enough and looks good. Hey Qube congrats on the shader. Maybe possible to do custom skybox perhaps I think that's shader territory. How about a skybox kit I would pay for that.

I do have the shader pack but as of yet not used it. Also the sound pack which is handy. As a tool a sky box creator/editor would  be excellent.
This is one thing AGK S has not got that PureBasic has or am I missing something. AGK S can also produce really nice rolling hills using height maps where as PureBasic has a smoothing method that only does half the job. I will take a look at the shader pack maybe it can be used for the skybox I'm gonna check it out soon. could maybe replace their images for mine.

You know dark basic used to have tools like that for sale. I wanted their plantlife/tree magic for blitz and realmcrafter. They also had a sky box generator.
