Wow, you reviewed BSS for CUAmiga, think I've still got the last copy with the big foot on the front, JSW styled! Or am I confusing that with Amiga Format....

I worked freelance for a few months for CU Amiga back around 1997. Used to do the PD sections and occasional other reviews if they wanted them. I was pals with Mat Bettinson at the time and he was working as their technical writer so he got me the gig. The work faded away after they got a new staff writer for the magazine.

Just because the Vic-20 was my 1st computer and it holds a special place in my heart...Look what arrived today ;D ;D ;D

Have fun with it, maybe some coding at some point too (after you've played some 1st computer games).  It certainly looks authentic and with a matching joystick too.   :)

Sadly I'll have to wait ages for my Spectrum Next.  :(

Jealous now. My mother insisted that she could get this for me as a Xmas present, like she did my full size C64 last year. That means I'm waiting another couple of months to get one :(

I'll definitely be having a whirl at assembler but in C64 mode. The Vic20 side I'll start off by putting some time with Hoppit, Space Snake, Blitz, Jetpac, Jupiter Landing, Miner 2049er, Paratroopers, Jelly Monsters and no doubt loads I've forgotten :P

I've had it on pre-order since you posted about it ;D Very nostalgic seeing one again and the sound of the keyboard takes me right back to being 10 years old again.

Never fear! a couple of months will fly by :)

http://www.ajordison.co.uk/download.html - Cbm prg ed, if you don't mind using a Windows dev system.

Or, if you'd prefer something more open plan, then TRSE runs on OSX as well, and has options for so many 6502/6510 computers now.

I keep meaning to get that set up again and learn the syntax as you can build for so many machines now.

Me too for my Spectrum Next, I'm not real motivated to use the Next Emulator for assembly language though.  I'll wait for hardware to arrive I think.  I took a look at those Vic20 games online and was impressed how well the coders did on the conversions, simpler graphics (very understandable due to the hardware limitations) but they ran fast and smooth - which is always the first priority of a game IMO.
