The Commodore 65 nostalgia project is now taking pre-orders for the Mega65.
But the question is: Is it worth paying nearly €800/$900 US for one when you can get a Ulitmate64 and a faulty C64 off ebay just for the case for half the costs?

You'll be having a long wait for it to be around the £200 mark. If anything, you'll be seeing them on flea-bay at twice the price. All you have to do is look at what happened with the ZX Spectrum Next. It didn't take long for them to be put on that auction site at over inflated prices when they became available.

I would begrudge paying that kind of money for a Mac Mini M1, let alone a Commodore 64/65 clone.

This is what I predict for the Mega65: Sales will be poor because of the price, the lack of purchase options, there will be delays and people could end up loosing their money.

The ZX Spectrum Next did things much better with being a kick starter project, offering a number of options for purchase when they became available.
