Actually I think I'd prefer the mini version because of it's size, I have several retro computers and am running out of space.  If I was to do some assembly coding on it then obviously an authentic keyboard would be a must;  but I'll be doing that on my Spectrum Next when it arrives instead.  The Amiga would be plugged into my 4:3 ratio flatscreen (or perhaps the CRT if I can convert it for scart) for playing games, not coding.

Aren't they saying that you can use any keyboard you want on the mini version? I could've sworn that I'd read that somewhere on one of the many posts I've read in the last few days about it.

Probably any usb keyboard, if that's the case, and the system will ignore any keys that aren't compatible, such as the windows/command etc. With a bit of luck support for a usb mouse will be present too. I liked the original amiga mouse but I've moved on from there and think it'd be cool to have both peripherals working from a joint usb receiver.

Oh yes you can use any USB Keyboard you want, I'm just a purist and would want a full Amiga keyboard for coding - plus some 80's computers have unique keys and I don't do virtual keyboards.

  Are you really a fan of the TI99/4a.  My brother had one, and he swears he wouldn't buy another of the doorstops again.  I got to use it, consider buying one for myself (I was still using the ZX81, so the color plus the full-sized keyboard of the TI was cool to me.) but Commodore came out with the C-64.  I was unaware of the Vic-20 otherwise I would have bought that machine as well. (Glad I didn't now that I think back on it.)

So what did you like about the TI99/4A.

@bsisko Yeah, I loved the TI-99/4a. Things I loved about it :

1.. Best keyboard of any computer from that time period.

2.. Extended BASIC cartridge which gave you hardware sprites which you could set moving while other code in your app was processed. Ahead of its time.

3.. Easy way to create graphics using hex

4.. Speech synthesis module which enhanced games like Parsec

5.. Additional peripheral extension unit with Disk Drive, extra RAM and improved soundboard.

Overall a decent computer which allowed for expansion.

What a lovely idea. But it could be so much better. I like the Amiga Black case's

Make it small enough to have a fully fuctioning keyboard. Running all operating system's of A500, A600, A1200.

Accelerated as fast as humanly possible. So we can program the system in it's own language making games run as fast as machine code because of the accelerated speed.

Being able to load all software available or that you own and the ability to SAVE the programs you've written easily. Any crashes instantly boot back and carry on. At the Mo only Emulators seem to do this.

Maybe ill stick to an Emulator. Ive already made the mistake with backing and buying the a ZX Next. A well written Emulator in full screen mode just needs the origonal keyboard plugged in as a USB.

I totally disagree.  It has a stylish case, can run all the classic Spectrum games as well as the 128K games with enhanced sound as well as the new Next features that rival or surpass the Amiga but in a modern system with new components and chips - plus it comes with a fantastic printed manual.
